Graduate and Postdoctoral Training Opportunities at UAB Opportunities for training have increased steadily at UAB over the past five years, trans-institutional dialogue and collaborations have expanded, funding for integration between basic and clinical investigators has been enhanced, and external grants for junior investigators have grown as well (e.g., K awards have increased from 27 to 51 in the past five years). Graduate and Fellowship trainees come to Birmingham from throughout the national and international scientific community, and participate in a research environment that emphasizes dedicated mentorship, rigorous training, and interdisciplinary innovation. A full curriculum in both Cellular and Molecular Biology (CMB) and a parallel curriculum in Integrative Biomedical Sciences (IBS) are available to graduate students and research fellows on our campus. at UAB. The award is presented in Birmingham. On February 19, 2008, the Tulcin Award was presented to Pamela B. Davis, M.D., Ph.D., Dean and Vice-President for Medical Affairs, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. As part of the Tulcin Award ceremony, a dinner is held in the recipient’s honor and a symposium presentation made by the awardee the next morning (typical attendance, several hundred scientists and clinicians). Doris F. Tulcin Award for Excellence in Cystic Fibrosis Research In recognition of Doris Tulcin’s leadership and outstanding contributions to CF research throughout the country, the Board of Trustees of the University of Alabama established the Doris F. Tulcin Research Award. The Award is presented to scientists who have made significant contributions to CF research. Selection is made at the discretion of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Bethesda, but funded entirely through an endowment established |
